You've probably heard the saying "DON'T EAT CARBS AT NIGHT" because it'll make you FAT.
I'm not sure when it started or where it stemmed from but let me be the one to tell you, IT'S A MYTH!
Consuming carbs at night does not make you fat or gets stored as body fat.
Calories from carbs doesn't carry extra grams and or enters the body differently at night. whether 6 pm, 7 pm or 8 pm it's all the same.
The individual that gains weight from eating carbs at night is the one that consumes too many calories for that day, the carbs at night were just the icing on the cake.
When it comes to your metabolism it does not slow down while you are sleeping, it actually speeds up. If you work out regularly it's even faster.
Exercise increases your basal metabolic rate for as much as 18 hours after you leave the gym. This means you burn as much as 3 times the normal amount of calories no matter what you are doing.
So enjoy those carbs, just be mindful of where you're getting them from and the total amount of calories you're having for the day.
Stay away from simple carbs, complex carbs are the ones you'll want to aim for!
Also, I'll let you in on something, As I'm writing this at 1 am in the morning I'm eating PIZZA!
Shhhh, Don't tell everyone!
